11yr old Martin Sun began piano lessons with Mark Hooper aged 6.
Soon after, he received a mark of 100% at the Ipswich Eisteddfod with a performance of Bach which brought the adjudicator to tears.
At the 2023 Little Lev Piano Showcase Competition Martin received the award for the most promising pianist across all ages.
The same year he was awarded his ‘Associate Diploma in Music’ with Distinction and also won the Queensland Piano Competition Open Concerto Prize which gave him 3 performances of the first movement of Kabalevsky’s 3rd Piano Concerto with the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra.
Martin also plays cello and violin. At 9 he was the Queensland 10yrs and Under Chess Champion.
He loves playing with his older sister Manling and their dog, Molly.
